Health Insurance Companies In Nh Information in Answers
Anyone know if pregnancy is considered a pre existing condition according to NH health insurance companies? My friend's sister is 8 months pregnant and has no had prenatal care. Her new job is telling her the health insurance did kick in but that the pregnancy and delivery won't be covered. I looked on a few websites and I thought pregnancy was NOT considered pre-existing. Any help would be appreciated.
Can your company FORCE you to take their health insurance? My company states that you cannot opt out of their health insurance (20% premium) unless you have proof of other health insurance. Some employees are not married or have spouses who cannot get health insurance, and they are wanting to opt out because they need more money - but the company is not allowing them. Is that legal? (I'm in NH if that matters - I tried looking it up, but haven't found the answer) Thanks for any insight!
If I like my current insurance, can I really keep it? Or is this just an irresponsible lie? I made a list of things that many democrats running Washington right now are saying....which one do you find most disturbing?
1. "If you like it you can keep it"
FACTCHECK!
To be fair, Pelosi's bill does not literally outlaw your current insurance company, nor does it outlaw your employer from continuing to offer the current options. But that's about where it ends. The current bills are so disruptive to the current healthcare cost structure that it is absolutely irresponsible for the President to be claiming "if you like it you can keep it" since in all likelihood the decision will not be yours to make. Moreover, everyone who has looked closely at the design of Pelosi's bill is lying if they don't admit it is designed to run the private insurers out of business leaving us bankrupt with a gov't-run single-payer system. By the way, the latest is that Obama & Pelosi are trying to use the word "co-operative" in place of "public option" though it is still just a single-payer trojan horse since the tax-payer is on the hook for the cost, especially once the private insurers shut down and bow to their rule-making counterpart.

2.Obama and Pelosi will make healthcare more affordable by reducing its cost.

Her mother is an attorney, Kathleen Manning Hall. On Kathleen Hall's Facebook page there's a picture of her with Barack Obama. She has contributed thousands of dollars to Obama, and her law firm has contributed thousands more. Now you tell me what the chances are that she was randomly called on at the ObamaEvent. Isn't this what Nancy Pelosi call "Astro-Turf"?)
4. Tort Reform only represents 1% of total healthcare costs.
FACTCHECK!
This tort reform estimate grossly underestimates only a small subset of direct payouts to victims and does not even include the bulk of money involved in frivolous lawsuits that do not even make it to court. As of 2003 this amount was actually about $25 billion annually and has grown since. Moreover it does not include the insurance doctors must pay and the shortage of doctors that result due to liability of specific types of doctors. No one wants to remove penalties for doctors who screw up, but rewarding lawyers with million dollar awards cannot be helping to make healthcare more affordable. Moreover, while Democrats and their journalist supporters try to paint insurance providers and drug manufacturers as being "special interests" working to defeat reform, they constantly overlook the role that trial lawyers are playing to try and impose Pelosi's specific legislation which will open the flood gates as many more patients are unleashed on an understaffed healthcare system with no tort reform or award limits whatsoever and tax-payers funding an endless supply of money.
5. There is no "Death Panel" in Obama's vision for healthcare.
FACTCHECK!
Perhaps Obama and Pelosi don't use this specific term, but read Barack Obama's ideas about where 80% of the cost of healthcare and decide for yourself what he wants a panel of "doctors, scientists, ethicists" to decide. And also keep in mind Ezekiel Emanuel's ideas about changing the doctor's oath and Obama's Science Czar John Holdren's book from the 1970s advocating sterilization of the water supply and forced abortions to limit population demand on resources.

I also heard a rumor that retirement accounts like IRAs might be targeted soon. Some democrat wants to confiscate them and put them all into social security and then divide that up because he says that is the fair way to do it.
I hate the thought of that. I have been paying into my retirement plan for about 10 years!"
Real Estate Agent? Currently, I work for a real estate management company. As a leasing consultant, I am on salary and comission with health and dental benefits. My company is paying for me to take the real estate agent course and licensing test in MA. How difficult is the switch from a salaried job to a comission job. Do any real esate agencies offer health insurance plans? How do agents pay for taxes if their annual income my vary? Is it similar to claiming tips as a waitstaff at a restaurant? It seems like something I would love to do, though it seems risky not knowing if your take home pay would be enough to cover the basic bills, etc. Any advice would be welcomed! Oh, one more question: How easy is it to transfer a license to a different state if I get licensed in MA and move to CT, NH, CA, GA, etc?
Celeste replied: "As a REALTOR you are self employed and would be paid on a 1099 instead of a W-2. No taxes would be taken and you would be responsible for everything including health insurance, etc... If you are licensened in one state and want to transfer to another you would need to contact the state you want to go to Board of Realtors to see the requirements and if testing in that state would be required. My advise would be keep the leasing consultant job full time and do the real estate part time. You would have excellent leads from the inquiries for rentals and it would give you the security of a regular pay until you establish yourself and are comfortable with the REALTOR role. Good Luck! I hope this helps"
Karen R replied: "Pay your taxes quarterly."

7. We have the most expensive healthcare and yet we rank 38th.
We do cost more, but that has more to do with the cost of living than anything else. We also have the most expensive hairdressers, plumbers, etc. As for being 38th, this is based on statistical anomaly caused by our nation's amazing ability at bringing difficult pregnancies to term. The increased liklihood of becoming a living human being, but then become a higher risk to die young(do to a birth defect) leads to lower life expectancy for the overall US population.

The reason our health care in America is so expensive is that the buyers are so far separated from the sellers.
The people paying for the goods and services are not doing so with their own money.
When there is a seemingly endless supply of money to pay for procedures, the number of procedures needed will be endless.
When someone else pays, we take whatever we can get, and as much as we want; when we must pay we save for what we need and only take what is necessary.
Asking government to pick up more of our costs will only raise our costs because it will at first appear as if we're getting something for nothing. The reality is, government will tax us all, skim off the lion's share of the loot, and ration by necessity the goodies they dole out to us.
The only way to correct the errors of the past in regards to health care is to gradually remove Daddy Warbucks and his deep pockets from the picture. More government isn't the solution, less government involvement in private decisions, like who will pay for our health care is the only viable solution.
---
The problem with health care in America is? that the customer, that is, the entity paying the bills is no longer the patient, but is instead a faceless bureaucracy be they government or private health insurance entities.
More bureaucracy and more government cannot fix this problem.
"Supply side" payments cause a demand in more services. When someone else is paying the bill, we tend to take as much as we can. When we're paying the bill we tend to take as much as we need."

Moreover, everyone who has looked closely at the design of Pelosi's bill is lying if they don't admit it is designed to run the private insurers out of business leaving us bankrupt with a gov't-run single-payer system.

2.Obama and Pelosi will provide healthcare more affordable by reducing its cost.
FACTCHECK!
According to the Bipartisan CBO, which usually slightly underestimates cost is telling everyone their bill increases the cost of healthcare from the status quo (i.e. doing nothing):
3. The protestors at town halls are un-American do not represent a bonafide grass roots movement as they have been sent by the insurance companies.
FACTCHECK!
Not true, but judge for yourself:
By the way, here is staged info on Obama's event in NH:
The cute little girl who asked Obama how do kids know what is true and why do people want a new health care system? Her name is Julia Hall and she's 11 years old.
5. Tort Reform only represents 1% of total healthcare costs.
FACTCHECK!
This tort reform estimate grossly underestimate a small subset of direct payouts to lawyers which as of 2003 was about $50 billion annually and has grown. Moreover it does not include the inurance doctors must pay and the shortage of doctors that result due to liabilty of specific types of doctors. No one wants to remove penalties for doctors who screw up, but rewarding lawyers with million dollar awards cannot be helping to make healthcare more affordable.
6. I can rely on FACTCHECK sites to sort out what is fact or fiction in the healthcare debate.
FACTCHECK!
No. Do your own research. Partisan interests on both sides, though mainly for Obama & Pelosi's benefit have manipulated these pieces to "lobby" for their cause. Here is one conservative site that explains how it works:>
